The FBI has dismantled a massive insurance fraud ring that staged over 200 fake car accidents across 5 states, defrauding insurers of $45 million through fabricated injury claims and inflated medical bills.

The Scheme

Organizers recruited participants to stage collisions, then funneled them to corrupt medical clinics and personal injury attorneys who submitted fraudulent claims. Some participants staged 5-10 "accidents" each.

Arrests

38 people have been arrested including 5 doctors, 3 attorneys, and 12 clinic operators. The investigation took 3 years and involved cooperation between the FBI, NICB, and state fraud bureaus.
